Lockmere AI Labs is built around one observation: as AI moves closer to people — their work, then their industries, then their private conversations — the privacy question stops being a compliance chore and becomes the product. We build for that, rather than around it.
Position
What we are, and what we are not.
We are an engineering team that takes on a small number of engagements at a time. Every project has senior people on it from the first conversation through handover — there is no layer between the person who scoped the work and the people who build it.
We are not a staffing shop and not a reseller. When an off-the-shelf product would serve you better than a build, we say so early. That costs us the occasional project and saves both sides a much more expensive discovery six months in.
Work spans three practices — AI tools, industry solutions, and companionship — plus a research lab building encrypted messaging on Matrix. They share more than a company name: the retrieval behind a tool is the retrieval behind an industry system, and the memory that makes a companion feel continuous is the memory that has to stay private.

Privacy is an architecture decision
Where data lives, who can read it, and what is retained gets settled in the design, not in a policy page written after launch.
Evaluated, not demoed
Every system ships with a measurable baseline and a regression suite. If we cannot show it got better, we do not claim it did.
Honest about limits
A companion is not a therapist. A model is not an oracle. We say what our systems cannot do as clearly as what they can.
